10 Signs You Are A Medium
10 signs you are a Medium by Psychic Medium Kristian von Sponneck

Introduction: Many People Believe Mediums Are Born This Way
The idea of being a medium often comes with preconceived notions. Many people believe mediums are born knowing exactly what they are, guided by spirit teachers, or trained within spiritualist circles from an early age. That was never my experience.
I never grew up believing I was a medium. I did not have a dramatic awakening, a sudden calling, or a moment where everything made sense. I do not work with a guide, and I never have. I have simply always been able to connect to spirit in a direct, natural way, without ceremony or structure. Over time, what felt normal to me revealed itself to be something others recognised as mediumship.
If you are reading this and wondering whether you may be a medium yourself, these signs may resonate more deeply than you expect.
1. You Sense Spirit Rather Than See It Clearly
One of the biggest misunderstandings about mediumship is that it involves seeing spirits as clearly as physical people. For many mediums, including myself, connection is far more subtle. It is sensed, felt, known, or received internally rather than visually witnessed.
Spirit communication often comes through impressions, emotions, sudden awareness, or a strong internal knowing. If you regularly sense presence, energy, or information without needing physical proof, this can be a strong indication of mediumistic ability.
2. You Have Always Felt That Death Is Not The End
Many mediums grow up with an unshakable feeling that life continues beyond physical death, even before they have language for it. This is not necessarily a belief taught by family or religion, but an internal certainty that never quite leaves.
In my own experience, death never felt like a full stop. It felt more like a change of state. If you have always felt this quietly within yourself, it may be because your awareness already extends beyond the physical world.
3. You Connect Without Ritual Or Structure
Some people expect mediumship to require tools, guides, prayers, or protective rituals. That has never been how I work. My connection to spirit has always been direct, natural, and unforced.
If you find that connection happens spontaneously, without effort or ceremony, this does not make it less valid. In many cases, it makes it more authentic. Mediumship does not need to be dramatic to be genuine.
4. You Pick Up On People Who Have Passed Without Trying
Many mediums experience spontaneous impressions relating to people who have passed, often when least expected. This can happen in everyday settings, during conversations, or when meeting someone new.
If you find yourself knowing details about someone’s loved ones in spirit without being told, or feeling drawn to mention things you could not logically know, this is often mediumship emerging naturally rather than something you have learned.
5. You Never Set Out To Be A Medium
One of the clearest signs of genuine mediumship is that it was never something you chased. Many real mediums did not set out to do this work. It simply unfolded over time.
I never decided to become a Psychic Medium. I did not pursue titles or labels. I simply followed what felt natural and allowed understanding to catch up later. If your abilities appeared before your intention, that is often significant.
6. You Feel Emotion Without Knowing Why
Mediums often experience emotion that does not originate from their own thoughts or experiences. You may suddenly feel sadness, warmth, love, or reassurance without an obvious cause.
This emotional sensitivity is not weakness. It is often how spirit communicates. Emotion carries information, memory, and connection. Learning to recognise what is yours and what is not becomes part of the development process.
7. You Have A Strong Sense Of Responsibility
Mediumship carries a quiet sense of responsibility, even before it is understood. Many mediums feel instinctively that certain things should be handled carefully, respectfully, and honestly.
You may feel uncomfortable with exaggeration, fear-based narratives, or people using spirituality to manipulate others. This internal ethical compass is often a sign that mediumship is present and already seeking balance.
8. You Feel Drained In Certain Environments
Being sensitive to spirit often means being sensitive to people, emotions, and environments. Crowded places, emotional situations, or certain locations may leave you feeling drained or overstimulated.
This is not a flaw. It simply means your awareness is tuned more finely than most. Learning boundaries is essential, but sensitivity itself is often a key part of mediumistic ability.
9. You Struggle With Labels And Belief Systems
Many mediums do not fit neatly into spiritual or religious boxes. You may resist rigid belief systems, dislike being told how connection should work, or feel disconnected from structured spirituality.
I have always worked without a guide and without fixed belief frameworks. Mediumship, for me, is about experience and evidence, not doctrine. If you value direct experience over belief, this can be a strong indicator.
10. You Feel Drawn To Understanding Consciousness
Mediumship is not just about spirit communication. It is about understanding consciousness, awareness, and the nature of existence itself.
If you find yourself questioning reality, perception, and what it means to be aware, this curiosity often runs alongside mediumistic ability. Spirit communication becomes part of a wider exploration of what consciousness truly is.
A Final Thought From Experience
Being a medium is not about labels, gifts, or being special. It is about awareness, sensitivity, and responsibility. Many people who are mediums never realise it because they assume what they experience is normal for everyone else.
I never knew I was a medium. I never had a guide. I have always simply connected to spirit as naturally as breathing. Understanding came later, shaped by experience rather than belief.
If parts of this resonate with you, it does not mean you must act on it or define yourself by it. Awareness unfolds in its own time. Mediumship, when genuine, does not rush. It waits until you are ready to understand it.
