Is Tarot Better if You’re a Psychic Medium?

It’s a question I get asked a lot:
“If you’re a psychic medium, does that make your tarot readings better?”

The short answer? It can — but not always in the way people expect.

Let’s break it down.

Tarot on Its Own

Tarot is a complete and powerful system all by itself.

You don’t have to be a psychic or a medium to be good at tarot. Plenty of brilliant tarot readers work entirely from the cards and their intuition, without ever claiming to connect to the spirit world.

The key is how well you understand the cards, how you can read their relationships in a spread, and how you can communicate their message to the person in front of you.

What a Psychic Medium Brings to Tarot

When you’re a psychic medium, tarot can become more than just a tool for insight — it can turn into a bridge.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

1. A Blended Connection

As a psychic medium, I can read the sitter’s energy, feelings, and patterns while also linking to spirit if they step forward. The cards give a visual framework, while psychic ability adds the emotional and energetic detail, and mediumship adds the possibility of direct spirit communication.

2. Messages Triggered by the Cards

Sometimes a particular card will act like a key, unlocking a direct connection with a spirit.
Example: If I pull the Six of Cups (often linked to nostalgia and childhood), I might suddenly feel a grandmother in spirit stepping forward with a vivid memory of baking in her kitchen, describing the smell of cinnamon and the shape of the biscuit tin. Similarly, some situations simply call for a purely psychic tarot reading without bringing in spirit at all — for example, if the sitter only wants to focus on career, timing, or practical matters.
