In my work, I am often asked whether I see Guardian Angels, whether everyone has one and whether they are the same as Spirit communicators. The honest answer is that the term “Guardian Angel” means different things to different belief systems. From a psychological and emotional standpoint, the belief itself can be profoundly comforting. Feeling supported, especially during vulnerable moments, has genuine emotional value. However, from the perspective of evidential mediumship, the interpretation of what is actually being perceived deserves careful consideration.
My Experience As A Psychic Medium
Working professionally as a Psychic Medium for many years, I can say that I do not typically encounter what I would describe as traditional Guardian Angels in the way they are popularly imagined. What I do consistently experience is the presence of loved ones in Spirit who remain connected to those they cared about in life.
Time and again in readings and demonstrations, it is family members, friends and close personal connections who come forward most strongly. Their energy carries familiarity, personality and emotional continuity. They often present with a clear intention to reassure and to make their presence known.
This leads me to a grounded conclusion: in many cases where people believe they are sensing a Guardian Angel, they may in fact be sensing the continued presence of someone known to them in Spirit.
The Protective Presence People Feel
Many individuals describe moments where they narrowly avoided danger or felt an unexplained sense of warning. They may say they heard a voice in their mind, felt a sudden urge to stop, or experienced a strong intuitive pull that later proved significant.

From my professional standpoint, I do not dismiss the comfort the belief brings. But I do encourage people to consider that the protective presence they feel may be more personal and more connected to their own loved ones than they initially realise.
Can There Be Higher Protective Energies?
It would be too simplistic to claim that only human Spirit exists beyond the physical world. Consciousness itself is still not fully understood. There may well be levels of awareness and intelligence beyond what we currently comprehend.
However, in practical evidential work as a Psychic Medium, the communicators who consistently present are those with clear human identity and emotional ties to the recipient. They demonstrate memory, humour, personality and relational awareness.
If higher protective intelligences exist, they do not typically present themselves in the same evidential, personal way during mediumship. What comes through most clearly and repeatedly is the continued involvement of those who have lived and loved here.
The Role Of Intuition
Another factor often overlooked in the Guardian Angel discussion is the power of human intuition. Many moments attributed to angelic intervention may in fact be instances where the individual’s own intuitive awareness has sharply heightened.

My grounded and honest view as a Psychic Medium is this: the comforting presence people attribute to Guardian Angels is often very real in feeling, but the source is frequently misunderstood. In many cases, what people are sensing is the continued awareness and care of loved ones in Spirit, combined at times with their own heightened intuition.
I do not dismiss the emotional power of the Guardian Angel belief. It has helped many people through difficult times. But in evidential mediumship, the clearest and most consistent communicators are those who have shared direct human connection with the sitter.
Understanding this can actually deepen the comfort rather than diminish it. The idea that those we love remain aware, present and connected is, in many ways, even more personal than the concept of a distant assigned protector.

The question “What is a Guardian Angel?” does not have a single universal answer. Traditional beliefs describe celestial protectors assigned to watch over us. Popular culture reinforces the image of winged beings guiding our path. But from the lived experience of a working Psychic Medium, the reality often appears more personal and more human.
Time and again, what presents most clearly in mediumship is the continued presence of loved ones in Spirit who remain emotionally connected to those they left behind. The protective feelings, the quiet nudges, the sense of being watched over may, in many cases, stem from this ongoing bond.
Whether one prefers the language of Guardian Angels or Spirit loved ones, the core emotional truth remains the same: the connection between people does not simply vanish at physical death.
